| C. F. Martin is the biggest name in acoustic guitars and for good reason. Their guitars are consistently well-made, look great, play great and sound great. In recent years, Martin has been producing a bewildering number of different models in several price ranges. I haven't been impressed with their low-end entries, but their higher-end models, starting with the D-18 and D-28 have set a very high standard for the industry to aspire to. Vintage Martin D-18s and D-28s are among the most sought after guitars in the World. They are in relatively short supply and the prices just keep going up. That's why many collectors find them to be a "blue chip" investment. They are also amazingly cool to own and very enjoyable to play! Among the non-vintage Martins, I particularly love the D-42s, which have many of the features of a vintage D-28 with some added embellishment. Many of Martin special edition models are also quite wonderful and desirable. Anyone out there have a Steven Stills D-45SS for sale??? |
